Song of autumn

Fair flowers, shining bright,

a show to dazzle all.

Frost will soon appear 

to nip your pretty heads,

and soon your leaves will fall

for autumn's here.

Fine plums, yellow, blue,

apples bright, full-grown,

Juicy pears, green and grey,

currants glowing red and clear.

Summer has flown 

and autumn's here.

The sun's still high in the sky,

giving warmth and glee;

fruit and flowers all colourful

glow with good cheer.

So come and dance with me,

for autumn's here.

夏の終りから秋に収穫できる果物や野菜、

花々の精が出てきて、目を楽しませてくれる絵本です。

娘は「９月 September」という名前の男の子と

りんごの妖精のブレムリー夫人が好きです。

ベスコフは絵も美しくて、

昔の絵本なのにどこか新鮮で幸せな気持ちになります。

また機会があったら、彼女の他の作品もご紹介しますね。

娘にも少しずつこだわりが出始めて

いつまで私が選んだものを読んでくれるか

(着てくれるか、などもね) わからないけれど、

大きくなっても一緒にこの本読んだねー

なんて覚えていてくれるといいな。
